CORNWALL, Ontario – A Cornwallite faces an assault with a weapon charge and failing to keep the peace after clobbering another woman with a chair on Wednesday.

According to the Cornwall Community Police Service, Amber Crowder, 27, allegedly launched the piece of furniture at the 58-year-old victim, who was known to her, striking her leg.

Following the police investigation, the suspect was taken into custody, charged, and spent some time behind bars, waiting for a bail hearing.

No shortage of April’s fools: Domestic assault leads to five charges

A 48-year-old Cornwall woman was pushed, slapped, and punched by her boyfriend during arguments on March 21 and 30, police say.

City cops arrested the 35-year-old Cornwall man on April 1. He was charged with robbery, mischief, and three counts of assault.

The suspect also allegedly damaged the woman’s phone.

He was held for a bail hearing. His name was not released to protect the victim’s identity.

Unwanted guests end up in cuffs

A 47-year-old Cornwall man and 45-year-old Moose Creek man are facing serious charges for allegedly forcing their way into their ex-girlfriend’s homes.

The first uninvited suspect made his way into the 30-year-old woman’s residence on March 31, and was arrested the next day.

He faces a break and enter charge.

The next uninvited suspect made his way into the 42-year-old woman’s house on April 1, and was arrested later that day. To make a bad situation worse, he had been warned by police not to communicate with her in the past.

He faces criminal harassment and break and enter charges.

Both unwanted guests were held for a bail hearing.

Suspected drunk driver arrested    

A 62-year-old Cornwall woman was found driving under the influence on April 1, police say.

Wendy Barns was charged with care and control and over 80.

She was taken into custody and released to appear in a Cornwall court on April 7.
