Charges laid following River Kings hockey fracas

CORNWALL, Ontario – A pair of local hockey fans have been charged by police after controversial incident that took place at a Cornwall River Kings game weeks ago.

The two men were charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

It’s alleged that on March 29 while at a playoff game between the Cornwall River Kings and Jonquiere at the Ed Lumley Arena the duo threw items at an opposing hockey team member striking him on the head causing the player to suffer injuries requiring medical attention.

A police investigation followed.

Mathew Beehler, 21 of Cornwall and Jamie MacDougall, 33 of Long Sault were arrested.

Beehler was later released to appear in court on April 29 while MacDougall was released to appear in court on May 15.
