CORNWALL, Ontario: The following is a compilation of Cornwall police briefs, where typical cop jargon is replaced with a more interesting point of view. All of the accused are innocent until proven guilty.
Glen Robertson man victim of vicious baseball bat attack
A 20-year-old man from Glen Robertson took a vicious beating from a Cornwall man swinging a baseball bat, police say.
Ross MacDonald, 37, has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police allege MacDonald smashed the Glen Robertson man with a bat several times during a confrontation over money at a Prince Arthur Street on Dec. 20.
The 20-year-old suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
MacDonald was located by police at a First Street residence on Jan. 21. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
Missing in court
Anthony Marini, 22, from Ingleside, was arrested for allegedly failing to attend court as a witness on Jan. 21.
Police located him at a First Street address that day and transported him to police headquarters. He was held for a bail hearing.
Warrant leads to arrest in court house
Darcy Dingman, 45, from Cornwall, was arrested in the Cornwall Court House on Jan. 22.
Police allege they visited the man’s residence to see if he was abiding by his conditions in November 2013. An investigation revealed he was breaching his recognizance.
He was located and arrested at the court house for moving without notifying police, no longer residing with his surety, being away from his residence for non-medical reasons, and for residing with a person which he was not to be in contact with.
The man was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.
Sucker punch
A 20-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested and charged with assault for serving her ex-boyfriend a knuckle sandwich.
Police allege she was arguing with the 24-year-old man when she punched him in the chest on Jan. 22.
During their investigation the woman was taken into custody and held her for a bail hearing. No names were released to protect the victim.
Underage drinking
A Cornwall youth was arrested for multiple drinking offences on Jan. 21.
Police allege a 16-year-old was found under the influence twice when he was picked up by his foster parents this month.
The teen received four breach charges for having consumed intoxicating substances and failing to keep the peace. He was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
Taking a joy ride
An Orleans teen pumped his brakes after a recent run-in with the Cornwall police.
Police allege the 17-year-old was asked to move a vehicle from a driveway, but instead drove off with it for over an hour on Jan. 21.
The youth was arrested and charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent. He was later released with a future court date. His name wasn’t released since he’s under 18.
