Cops and robbers, July 25, 2013

The following is a compilation of Cornwall police briefs, where typical cop jargon is replaced with a more interesting point of view. All of the accused are innocent until proven guilty.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON-Michael Fox, 46 of Cornwall was arrested on the 24th of July, 2013. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 23rd of July, 2013 and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The male attended police headquarters on the 24th of July, 2013 to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC WARRANT, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON-A 20-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 24th of July, 2013. It is alleged that he failed to attend court on the 19th of November, 2012 and a warrant for his arrest was issued. On the 24th of July, 2013 the male attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the original charges were domestic in nature and may identify the victim.

Cornwall, ON- A 22-year-old Cornwall man was arrested for Mischief on the 24th of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 24th of July, 2013 the man was involved in a verbal argument with his 21-year-old girlfriend. During the argument he damaged the door and frame. Police were contacted to attend the Bedford Street address and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the man was bound by a Probation order and an Undertaking with conditions to keep the peace. He was charged accordingly and taken into custody for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim.

BREACHES 

Cornwall, ON- A18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 24th of July, 2013. It is alleged that while police were investigating an unrelated incident on Bedford Street they found the male in breach of a youth Probation order for failing to notify a change in address, associating with a person known to have a criminal record and failing to keep the peace. He was also bound by an Undertaking with conditions of notify change of address and keep the peace. He was charged accordingly and taken into custody for a bail hearing. His name was not released as per the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DRUGS & BREACHES

Cornwall, ON-Mark Munro, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on the 24th of July, 2013. An officer on community patrol conducted a stop in the area of William Street and Cotton Mill and it is alleged that the man was in possession of a small quantity of marijuana. The man was also bound by two probation orders with conditions to keep the peace and not to be in possession of drugs. He was subsequently transported to police headquarters and charged accordingly. He was later released to appear in court on the 29th of August 2013

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 24-year-old Cornwall female was arrested and charged with assault on the 23rd July, 2013. It is alleged while at a local business a female was involved in an argument with her 30-year-old ex-boyfriend when she struck him. Police were called and an investigation followed. She was subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was later released to appear in court. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT & MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON-A 40-year-old Cornwall man was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault and one count of Mischief on the 23rd of July, 2013. It is alleged that the man was at his girlfriend’s residence when a verbal argument took place. In the course of the argument he punched his girlfriend and pushed her. The man then damaged her cellular phone. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they took the man into custody and brought him to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing on the 24th of July, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

DOMESTIC MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON- A 42-year-old Cornwall, ON male was arrested on July 24th, 2013. It is alleged that on the 24th of July, 2013 a verbal argument ensued between him and his 45-year-old common law spouse. During the argument the man damaged a wall in the residence. Police were contacted and began an investigation. During their investigation they charged the man with Mischief. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

ASSAULT, DANGEROUS DRIVING AND THREATS

Cornwall, ON-Jonah Lapierre, 26 and Joshua Lafrance, 26 both of Cornwall were arrested on the 23rd of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 23rd of July 2013 while at the Cornwall Square parking Lapierre punched a 28-year-old man. Later that day Lapierre and Lafrance were involved in a second confrontation when the victim returned to his residence. Upon noticing the two, the man fled the area in his vehicle. The two males then followed and struck his vehicle with theirs and uttered threats to the man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located Lafrance at his residence and charged him with Assault, Dangerous Driving and Threats. Lapierre attended police headquarters to deal with the matter and he was charged with Threats. Both males were released to appear in court at a later date.

Jilted lover’s road rage

Cornwall, Ontario – An ex-boyfriend took a wrong turn when he jumped the curb with his vehicle to rundown his former romantic partner. It’s alleged a Long Sault man (22) drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk around Walton Street and Prince Arthur Street hitting his ex-girlfriend and another male. Police found the alleged four-wheel striker at the boat launch during their investigation on July 19, 2013. He was charged with Assault with a Weapon x2, Dangerous Operation, fail to stop at an accident and for breaching a Probation order for not keeping the peace. He was later released with a court date of the 27th August, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

Jail cell phone blues

Cornwall, Ontario – An argument between husband and wife left a cell phone in critical condition. It’s alleged a Cornwall male (38) damaged his wife’s (32) mobile device while under an alcoholic influence on July 19, 2013. The alleged phone punisher was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. The man was charged with Mischief Under $5000 and breaching Probation conditions by having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. His name was not released as it would identify the victim.

Minor disaster

Cornwall, Ontario – A Cornwall male (21) should learn to stick with people his own age. It’s alleged the man was already under conditions to stay away from minors, when he made a major mistake. On July 19, 2013, a uniformed officer allegedly had seen him at the Harbour in the presence of a 15-year-old female. Shane Sarault was subsequently arrested that day and was charged with breaching his conditions and held for a bail hearing on the 20th of July 2013. His conditions included being bound by a Recognizance order with the relevant condition not to associate with persons under the age of 16 unless supervised and a probation order to Keep the Peace and be of Good Behaviour.

Neighbour nuisance   

Cornwall, ON – Love thy neighbour fell on deaf ears as police arrived at the scene. It’s alleged that as officers discontinued the dispute – near Prince Albert Street, booze was on the breath of a dueling neighbour. David Armstrong (52) of Cornwall was charged with breaching an Undertaking for having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace and breach of probation for not keeping the peace. He was subsequently held for a bail hearing.

Wedding crasher

Cornwall, Ontario – A sacred ceremony was rudely interrupted by an uninvited wedding guest. It’s alleged that Michael Mantle (43) of Cornwall shouted at a wedding party near 340 Pitt Street. A uniformed officer tried to calm down the alleged crasher, but the bride and groom were forced to watch a brief scuffle as he was arrested. He was then charged with Cause disturbance and resist. He will appear in court at a later date.

Suspected spitter

When arguing with strangers, hold the urge to hawk a loogie. It’s alleged a 34-year-old woman of Cornwall, approached a 52-year-old male waiting in his vehicle by her residence and spat on him. Andrea Bedard (34) was arrested for assault and released to appear in court, August 29, 2013.

FAIL TO APPEAR

Cornwall, ON – Blandine Mukuna, 31 of Cornwall was arrested on the 20th of July, 2013 and charged with failing to appear for prints and breaching an Undertaking and Probation order for not keeping the peace. It is alleged that the female failed to attend for prints on the 12th of July, 2013. She was subsequently located by an officer on community patrol and taken into custody. She was then held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT and BREACHES

Cornwall, Ont. – A 35-year-old Lunenburg man was arrested on the 21st of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 20th of July, 2013 a man attended his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend’s residence and during that time threatened her. Police were called and an investigation followed. The male was also found to be bound by a probation order to keep the peace. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was held in custody to appear in court for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in the incident.

OVER 80

David Legue, 46 of Cornwall was arrested on the21st of July, 2013. It is alleged that shortly after 5pm on the 21st of July, 2013 the male was found to be operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody then released with a court date of the 6th of August, 2013.

THEFT UNDER, BREACH

Cornwall, ON- Marisa Lupien, 35 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of July, 2013. It is alleged that on the 22nd of July, 2013 she attended a Montreal Street residence and removed some money. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation she was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police walking eastbound on Montreal Road she was taken into custody and charged accordingly. She was then released with a court date of the 27th of August, 2013.
