CORNWALL CITY COUNCIL: Here are your candidates (so far)
Cornwall city hall

CORNWALL, Ontario – More than 30 people have signed up to run for city council this year, marking one of the largest candidate rosters from recent municipal elections.

The deadline for filing nomination papers at city hall expires at 2 p.m. today, so the list of nominees could grow slightly over the next few hours. City clerk Helen Finn said she plans to release final details of who’s in, and who’s out, later today following the deadline.

Every incumbent around the council table plans to seek re-election with the exception of Coun. Denis Thibault, who has made the decision to step away from municipal politics.

No fewer than 20 others are running for city council who are not part of the current group.

The mayoral roster is less confusing, if only because there are fewer candidates to consider.

Incumbent Bob Kilger is seeking a third-straight term in the big chair. He is being challenged by former city councillor Leslie O’Shaughnessy.

Also on the mayoral ticket is political rookie Jamie Gilcig.

The massive list of candidates for city council includes the following individuals. We have included their email addresses in hopes that you contact them to ask questions.
