CORNWALL, Ontario – Dress was casual and the weather was ideal for an outdoor soirée, on Friday night, as the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation hosted its first ever Denim and Diamonds fundraiser, on the patio at NavCentre.

“NavCentre is a very important in-kind partner for us,” said Erin Killoran, manager of development and major gifts at Cornwall Community Hospital. Other major sponsors for the event were Caisse Populaire de Cornwall, as well as Poirier Furniture and Pomerleau.

The event featured great food at five BBQ stations, signature cocktails, and a dessert bar, but the highlight of the evening was the stellar, live entertainment line-up, with local musicians, Tracy Lalonde and Graham Greer, followed by dancing to The Don K’s, and DJ Alan Merizzi, later in the evening, in the Jet Set Pub.

Fundraising activities included a silent auction, as well as a draw for a sapphire and diamond ring from Pommier Jewellers, and a gift certificate from Schulman’s.

Other attractions for the evening included a photo booth by Behold Photographic, and the Old Car Club with vintage vehicles from the 1930 to the 1970.

A putting challenge was also set up to help promote the upcoming Great Waterway Classic, at Upper Canada Golf Course, in August.

The final tally was not available, however all proceeds from this and all other events held by the foundation this year will go towards the purchase of ultra sound machines, said Killoran.

Approximately 240 people were in attendance. Organizers are hoping to make this an annual event.
