CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Lions Club will be holding a Bed Race and Dance on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Local businesses are encouraged to donate a bed and race as a team and there will be a special category for high school teams.
Registration is $200 and all participants will be given a receipt.
“We view this project as another way to stay visible in the City,” said John Locke, Co-chair of the event. “One-hundred percent of the proceeds raised from this event will remain in the community.”
The Lions Club has also been busy making beds of their own that teams can rent for $25 each.
Prizes will be awarded to the best decorated bed, the best decorated team and the fastest bed.
Those businesses who need a little extra push can count on high school volunteers who will be willing to help get their bed to the finish line.
There will be a $500 prize for the winning high school team and $500 prize for the team that wins with a non-student team.
The race will be run along Pitt Street between First and Second Streets. That evening there will be a Dance at 7 p.m. at the Civic Complex where the prizes will also be awarded.
