CORNWALL, Ontario – The 24th annual Lights of Hope campaign, to benefit St Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, kicked-off the season, last week, with the ceremonial lighting of the trees.

Funds raised in the past, through the campaign, have gone to many different items, explained Tammie Menard, community engagement officer for SJCCC.

“This year, we are looking at some medical equipment that is not covered through the ministry of health and long term care.”

This year, resident, Verna Samson and her family were asked to do the official tree lighting.

“Every year we approach a family member to see if they would be willing to come light the trees,” said Menard who explained that each of the lights in each of the trees represents support within our community.

As they do each year, Holy Trinity choir performed for a delighted audience of residents and guests.

A Christmas tea was served.

To date, the campaign, which began November 12, has raised $11,600, will continue on until Dec 31st .Those wishing to make a donation can contact Tammie Menard at 613-933-6040 ext. 21167; drop by the centre, or on line at www.sjccc.ca
