New fall festival set to keep the party going

CORNWALL, Ontario – For those of us who are sorry to see the summer slip away, along with all the great festivals and events that have drawn the community, in the tens of thousands, to the park, these past few months, take heed… It’s not over yet.

The first ever Kinsmen Cornwall Fall Fest will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 13, 14 and 15, in Lamoureux Park, and promises to do for the fall (although not technically fall yet), what the other events did for the summer.

“People are looking for something to do to ease them out of summer,” said Terry Muir, event chair. “The dates were specifically selected to give everyone an opportunity to get back into their regular routine of school.”

The main goal, say organizers is to raise funds to support a few of the children’s charities around town, such as The Children’s Christmas Fund and school breakfast programs, all the while getting the community back to the park for one last hoorah.

Entertainment headliners will include three fabulous tribute acts Bon Jovi on Friday, Bee Gees on Saturday, and Fleetwood Mac on Sunday, supported by a stellar line-up of local acts throughout the weekend – Switchgear, Sky People, Steve Gardiner Band, Landmark, Graham Greer, Brigadoons, Jamie Heath, Eric Willison, Heatley and Roxanne Delage. (Full schedule and time will soon be available)

As well, Fallfest wants to showcase the different ethnic backgrounds that we have here in the city, said Marvin Plumadore, vice chair, through the food vendors and multi-cultural demonstrations.

Among those on the schedule will be Chinese line-dancing, The MacCulloch Dancers, Martial Arts demonstrations, and Native dancers, as well other cultural displays.

The festival will also feature a vendors market, a midway, and a craft beer tent with three of our local brewers.

Organizers are anticipating an attendance of 20,000 to 25,000 people over the weekend. There is no cover charge for any of the entertainment, however, donations will be greatly appreciated.

Those wishing to participate as vendors, advertisers and sponsors volunteers are asked to contact either Terry Muir or Marvin Plumadore at www.kinsmenfallfest.com.
