MASSENA, N.Y., United States – The New York State Police have stated that they have recovered the body of 19-year-old Aiden C. Thacker, of Beech Grove, Indiana near the town on Massena.
According to the police, on July 29 at around 4 p.m. the teen was swimming with a friend near the Long Sault Dam near Massena. Both were swept towards the dam. Thacker’s friend managed to escape the current, but lost sight of Thacker.
“Thacker’s body was located, downriver from the dam at 7:01 p.m., by the Akwesasne Volunteer Fire Department Marine Unit. St. Lawrence County Coroner James Sienkiewycz responded and pronounced Thacker deceased at 8:20 p.m.,” the New York State Police say in a press release. “Coroner Sienkiewycz ordered the body removed to Massena Memorial Hospital, pending an autopsy.”
