Beloved husband of Anne Jarvo (Anne Marie Costello, née Grobowski) and the late Marion Jarvo (née Laundrie). A life-long Cornwall native, Joseph’s long and fruitful life was defined by his dedication to his family, friends and his love of sports. His 41 year career began at Howard Smith Paper Mill in 1950 as an apprentice and culminated with his retirement as the superintendent of the pulp mill in 1991. His passion for sports started at a very young age where even as a teenager, he played in the senior fastball league as a second baseman and was inducted to the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame in 1982. His quote of “give no quarter ask no quarter“ defined his determination to support his team to victory after victory and his skills had him selected eight times to the league all-star team. He also played several years of intermediate hockey for the OCOT and Howard Smith teams. As a young man, he developed what would become a lifelong passion for golf and was essentially a “founding father“ of one of the fledgling golf courses near his hometown. Over his working years, Joseph continually improved his game and upon his retirement, pursed this passion in Canada all summer and in Florida in the winter. His winter respite at “The Villages“ in Florida were some of Joseph’s greatest times, where he played golf, was a member of the “Water Buffalos“ water aerobics team and socialized with his community. His quiet moments were spent discussing his review of world events with his wife, playing sudoku, and crosswords. Joseph was blessed with a full and love-filled life. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Anne, children James A. Jarvo, J. Allan Jarvo, Brenda Reinkeluers (Christiphor), Susan Sabourin (Daniel), grandchildren Jonathan, Justin, Kristiane, Alexander, Marie Josee, Chantal, Erich, Isabel, Marc and Carly, and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jayden, Lilah, and Lilly. Memorial contributions to the Heart Association will be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.beyersfuneralhome.com.
