CORNWALL, Ontario – A Long Sault man will be mowing his lawn in style this summer.
Doug Barkley won the 2015 John Deere Green Fever contest, taking home the grand prize of a 1023E Compact Utility Tractor with 54-inch mowing deck.
Barkley, a long-time employee at Ridgewood Industries, says he was blown away when he received the phone call in March notifying him that he had won.
“I decided to take a chance to participate in the contest when a friend posted a link to the Green Fever contest on Facebook,” Barkley said. “I filled out the information online and thought for sure I’d never win. It was an easy program to participate in and I was extremely excited when I got the phone call.”
Barkley has a large yard to maintain during the spring and summer.
“I’ve been using a John Deere 180 with PTO-driven mowing deck the last seven years and it’s been the best lawn tractor I’ve ever owned,” he said. “It has lots of power, cuts grass beautifully and is comfortable to drive.”
Green Tech Equipment in Winchester awarded the tractor to Barkley.
The Green Fever program is John Deere’s annual first-quarter sales promotion that runs from November through February.
