CORNWALL, Ontario – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stopped in at the 70th Glengarry Highland Games on the afternoon of Friday, Aug. 4.
People were eagerly gathering around the main gate at the Maxville well before the Prime Minister’s arrival, which was scheduled for 2 p.m.
Earlier in the day, Trudeau had been touring the St. Albert’s Cheese Factory in St. Albert, ON.
The Prime Minister arrived at around 2:15 p.m., already dressed in a Sinclair tartan kilt, and he and his entourage quickly entered the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame for a tour.
The crowd of easily over 100 people eagerly pressed in towards the entrance of the Sports Hall of Fame waiting for the Prime Minister to emerge. When he did, roughly a half-hour to 45 minutes later, he slowly made his way through the throngs of people shaking hands and taking selfies.
One young boy, Roland O’Donald eagerly made his way through the crowd hoping to meet the Prime Minister, in the end, he proudly walked away with his autograph.
Trudeau slowly toured around the Maxville Fairgrounds, greeting the public as he passed.
In all the Prime Minister spent around one hour at the Glengarry Highland Games before departing.
