Police Briefs: February 4, 2013

ASSAULT, POSSESSION OF WEAPON & THREATS

Cornwall, ON- A 34-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 1st, 2013. It is alleged that on January 30th, 2013 he got into an altercation with a 29-year-old male acquaintance when he uttered threats while holding a knife. He allegedly also pointed the knife and assaulted his 40-year-old sister during the incident. The victims did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, utter threats to cause death, 2 counts of Assault with a weapon and Assault. He was held in custody until court on February 4th, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in this matter.

 

FRAUD & BREACH

Cornwall, ON- A 18-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 1st, 2013. He was bound by a Youth Criminal Justice Act Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on January 11th, 2013 he attended a local bank and deposited a cheque that was later found to be fraudulent. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was located and charged with Fraud under $5000, Utter Forged Document and Failure to comply with Probation Order. He was released to appear in court on February 14th, 2013. His name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

 

BREAK & ENTER TO COMMIT ASSAULT & RESIST ARREST

Cornwall, ON- Graeme McDonald, 20 of Long Sault was arrested on February 2nd, 2013. It is alleged that during the early hours of February 2nd, 2013 while intoxicated, he mistakenly attended a residence, forced his way in and got into an altercation with a 52-year-old man. The victim did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and upon arrival the male resisted arrest. He was charged with Break & Enter to commit Assault and Resist Arrest. He was released to appear in court on February 28th, 2013.

 

ASSAULT CAUSED BODILY HARM & BREACH

Cornwall, ON- Scott Bertrand, 29 of Burlington, ON was arrested on February 2nd, 2013. He was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on January 5th, 2013 while at a local establishment, he got into an altercation with a 36-year-old stranger and assaulted him. The victim suffered injuries and attend hospital. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Assault caused bodily harm and Breach of Probation Order. He was released to appear in court on February 28th, 2013.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON- A 51-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on February 2nd, 2013. He was bound by a Probation Order with the conditions of keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on February 2nd, 2013 he got into an altercation with his 47-year-old girlfriend when he assaulted her. The victim did not require medical treatment. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with Domestic Assault and Breach of Probation Order. He was held in custody until court on February 4th, 2013. His name was not released as it would identify the victim in this matter.

 

OVER 80

Cornwall, ON- Michel Carriere, 60 of Cornwall was arrested shortly after 3:30 am on February 3rd, 2013 when he was allegedly operating a motor vehicle on Thirteen Street while under the influence of alcohol. He was transported for further testing which resulted in a charge of Over 80. He was released to appear in court on February 14th, 2013.

 

BREAK & ENTER

Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigating a Break & Enter that occurred on February 2nd, 2013 at an Adolphus Street residence. The suspect(s) gained entry and removed a Mastercraft tool kit containing an impacr gun, impact sockets, Mastercraft cordless drill along with two battery packs and various other tools. Cornwall, ON- The Cornwall Community Police Service is currently investigating a Break & Enter that occurred on February 3rd, 2013 at a Roy Avenue residence. The suspect(s) gained entry and removed a black 19” LCD Gateway Monitor, computer tower, DVD player, Ipod touch and 2 cell phones. BREACH

Cornwall, ON- Bradley Filion, 32 of Cornwall was arrested on February 3rd, 2013. He was bound by a Recognizance with the conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. It is alleged that on January 29th, 2013 he failed to attend for fingerprints. He was located and charged with Fail to Comply with Recognizance and Fail to Appear for fingerprints. He was released to appear in court on February 12th, 2013.

Cornwall, ON- A 15-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on February 3rd, 2013. He was bound by a Recognizance with the conditions of keep the peace and be of good behaviour, remain in your residence daily between 9:00 pm and 6:00 am, except for medical emergencies or when in the company of your C.A.S. worker, foster parent or group home worker. It is alleged that on February 3rd, 2013 he left his residence and failed to return prior to curfew. Police were contacted and an investigation followed. He was charged with 3 counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance and held in custody until court on February 4th, 2013. The youth’s name was not released as per provision under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
