Police Briefs: Sept. 2, 2013

BREACHES

Cornwall, ON- A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 28th of August, 2013 and charged with breaching a Probation order for not attending school and a second count for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the youth failed to attend school for a complete day on the 27th of August, 2013 and the 28th of August, 2013. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was located by police, taken into custody then later released with a future court date. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Ashley Hutt, 28 of Cornwall was arrested on the 28th of August, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. On the 28th of August, 2013 police attended an Eighth Street address in order to execute a warrant. On police arrival the woman ran from police and after a brief foot chase the woman stopped and surrendered to police. The woman was taken into custody, transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

OBSTRUCT POLICE, PERSONATION, CAUSE DISTURBANCE AND BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Kayla Boyd, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charged with two counts of Obstruct/ Resist police, Personation, Cause Disturbance and breach of a Recognizance for having consumed alcohol. It is alleged that on the 27th of August, 2013 the woman attended McConnell Site Hospital and drew the attention of police who were there on an unrelated matter. Police attempted to take the woman who had an odour of alcohol into custody for having falsely identified herself, however the woman caused a disturbance and resisted arrest. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly then taken to police headquarters where she was held for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER, THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charged with Break and Enter and Theft Under $5000. It is alleged that between the 25th of August, 2013 and the 26th of August, 2013 the youth attended a Birmingham residence, entered without permission and removed three Pug pups. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation it was learned that the pups had been located and returned to the owner. Police attended a Cumberland Street address and located the youth. The youth was taken into custody and charged the youth accordingly. The youth was then transported

to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 3rd of October, 2013. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

THEFT UNDER $5000 AND BREACHES

Cornwall, ON – Bradley Johnson, 40 and Laura Primeau, 26 both of Cornwall were arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charged with two counts of Theft Under and Probation breaches. It is alleged that the man and the woman attended a Pitt Street store on the 26th of August, 2013 and removed running shoes then left without making any attempts to pay for them. It is further alleged that on the 27th of August, 2013 both attended the same store and removed cheese and scallops without making any attempts to pay for the items. The man and the woman were subsequently stopped by store staff on that date. Police were contacted and on arrival took the woman into custody and after a brief foot chase the man was also taken into custody. Both were then charged accordingly and transported to police headquarters. The woman was then released with a future court date while the man was held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charged with Theft Under $5000 and breach of two Youth Probation orders for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on the 5th of August, 2013 the youth removed money from his mothers’ wallet. The money was later recovered by the mother and on the 27th of August, 2013 both the youth and the mother attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. Police took the youth into custody, charged him accordingly then transported the youth to a Youth Center as he was also breaching a Custody and Supervision Order. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

BREACHES

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charged with two counts of breach of a Youth Probation Order for being out past curfew and for failing to keep the peace. The youth was further charged with one count of breaching an Undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on the 25th of August, 2013 the youth did not return home as required. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On the 27th of August, 2013 the youth was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police in the area of Forth Street. The youth was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The youth was then transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Trevor Seguin, 21 of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 on the strength of a Witness Warrant. On the 27th of August, 2013 the man attended police headquarters as he had learned that he was wanted by police and wished to deal with the matter. The man was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Oliver McTaggart, 29 of Cornwall was arrested on the 25th of August, 2013 on the strength of a warrant for failing to re-attend court. On the 25th of August, 2013 police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Second Street and McConnell Avenue and identified the passenger as the man wanted by police. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 14-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 25th of August, 2013 and charged with breaching a Recognizance for being out past curfew. It is alleged that on the 25th of August, 2013 the youth was out past curfew and police were contacted. An investigation then ensued. While police were conducting their investigation the youth, who returned home was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The youth was then transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT AND BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Bernard Prevost, 42 of Cornwall was arrested on the 26th of August, 2013 and charged with Harassment and breach of an Undertaking for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the man made attempts to contact a 35-year-old woman on several occasions between March 17th , 2013 and the 3rd of June, 2013 despite having been warned by police not to contact her. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On the 26th of August, 2013 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was then held for a bail hearing.

THEFT UNDER $5000

Cornwall, ON – Cory Sabourin, 34 of Cornwall was arrested on the 26th of August, 2013 and charged with Theft Under $5000. It is alleged that the man attended a Ninth Street store and removed items without making attempts to pay for them. The man was stopped by a store employee and police were contacted. During the police investigation the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON AND MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 21-year-old woman from Cornwall was arrested on the 26th of August, 2013 and charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief. It is alleged that on the 26th of August, 2013 the woman damaged a vehicle with her vehicle then entered a bar on Thirteenth Street and attempted to strike a 23-year-old man with a beer bottle. The woman then tried to push the man out of the building and police were contacted. During their investigation the woman attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. The woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. Her name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Labbe, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on the 27th of August, 2013 and charge with Mischief Under $5000. It is alleged that on the 19th of August, 2013 the man damaged a kitchen chair that belonged to a 25-year-old man. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the course of their investigation on the 27th of August, 2013 police learned the man was in custody on an unrelated matter and advised him of the charge of Mischief. The man was then held for a bail hearing. 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON, THREATS, MISCHIEF

Cornwall, ON – A 34-year-old Summerstown, ON man was arrested on the 23rd of August, 2013 and charged with Assault with a Weapon, Threats and Mischief. It is alleged that on the 23rd of August, 2013 the man was involved in an argument with his 25-year-old girlfriend and threatened to harm her while in the yard of their residence. The woman who then locked herself in the residence was struck by the door when the man kicked the door open. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man who fled the scene at an Alice Street address. He was taken into custody and charged accordingly. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in the matter.

 

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, MISCHIEF, THREATS AND FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT

Cornwall, ON – A 19-year-old Cornwall, ON man was arrested on the 25th of August, 2013 and charged with Assault, Threats, Mischief and Forcible Confinement. It is alleged that on the 25th of August, 2013 the man was involved in an argument with his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend while at her residence. During the argument he damaged her phone, pushed her, made threatening gestures and would not allow her to leave the apartment. Police were then contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they took the man into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victim.

IMPAIRED OPERATION, DRIVE WHILE DISQUALIFIED

Cornwall, ON – Wilbert Chrisjohn, 46 of Southwold, ON was arrested on the 24th of August, 2013 and charged with Impaired operation and Drive while Disqualified. It is alleged that on the 24th of August, 2013 the man was operating a motor vehicle while disqualified and under the influence of alcohol. The man was stopped by police on Thirteenth Street near Brookdale Avenue, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 3rd of September, 2013.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – A 37-year-old Williamstown, ON man was arrested on the 24th of August, 2013 and charged with Sexual Assault. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of the 24th of August, 2013 the man sexually assaulted a 22-year-old woman while at her residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man was located on Edith Street, taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters then later released with a court date of the 24th of September, 2013. His name was not released as it might identify the victim in this matter.

THEFT UNDER $5000 AND BREACH PROBATION

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 24th of August, 2013 and charged with Theft Under and breach of a Probation order for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that the youth attended LCBO locations in Cornwall on the 19th and 24th of August, 2013 and removed bottles of liquor without making any attempts to pay. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the youth was located by police on Brookdale Avenue, took the youth in custody and charged the youth accordingly. The youth was then transported to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 19th of September, 2013. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT, BREACH, THREATS

Cornwall, ON – A 17-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 and charged with Assault It is alleged that on the 22nd of August, 2013 the 17-year-old youth was involved in an argument with her 18-year-old boyfriend and during the argument punched him in the eye. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the 17-year-old youth was taken into custody and charge accordingly. The youth was transported to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 19th of September, 2013. The youths’ name was not released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Cornwall, ON – A 30-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 and charged with breaching a Recognizance for being away from his residence. It is alleged that on the 30th of July, 2013 police attended his last known address to speak with the man, however the man had moved out. On the 22nd of August, 2013 the man attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the original charges stem from a Domestic incident and may identify the victim.

Cornwall, ON- A 43-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 and charged with two counts of threats to life. It is alleged that on the 22nd of August, 2013 the man was overheard yelling that he was going find and kill his 29-year-old ex-girlfriend and her daughter. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at his residence, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it might identify the victims in the matter.

BREACH OF CONDITIONAL SENTENCE

Cornwall, ON – Thomas Benedict, 40 of Akwesasne was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 for having breached his Conditional Sentence order by having consumed alcohol and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that on the 22nd of August, 2013 police were contacted to attend a Brookdale Avenue restaurant in relation to an intoxicated male. On arrival police spoke with the man and detected an odour of alcohol. He was subsequently arrested for breaching his conditions and taken to police headquarters where he was held for a bail hearing.

ASSAULT

Cornwall, ON – Jordan Merpaw, 22 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 and charged with Assault. It is alleged that on the 22nd of august, 2013 the intoxicated man was involved in a verbal argument with a 26-year-old man while on Cumberland Street. During the argument the man punched and kneed the 26-year-old man. The altercation then continued into the 26-year-olds residence. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation the man who was still on scene was taken into custody and charged accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a court date of the 26th of September, 2013.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – David Campbell, 40 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the man failed to attend court on the 13th of August, 2013 and a warrant was issued. On the 22nd of August, 2013 the man ‘was identified during a traffic stop in the area of Guy Street and taken into custody. The man was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Tate Jocko, 23 of Cornwall was arrested on the 21st of August, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. On the 21st of August, 2013 the man attended police headquarters in order to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on the 21st of August, 2013 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged that the youth failed to attend court on the 25th of July, 2013 and a Bench warrant was issued. On the 21st of August, 2013 the youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. The youth was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing. The youths name was not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT

Cornwall, ON – Stanislaw Zalesky, 66 of Alexandria was arrested on the 21st of August, 2013 and charged with Harassment. It is alleged that between the 7th of July, 2013 and 21st of August, 2013 the man attended an Amelia Street address on several occasions despite being told he was unwanted. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During their investigation they located the man at the Aquatic Center, took him into custody and charged him accordingly. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

BREACHES

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Sawyer, 27 of Cornwall was arrested on the 22nd of August, 2013 and charged with two counts of breach of Undertaking for having been out past curfew and failing to keep the peace. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of the 22nd of August, 2013 the man was spotted by a member of the Cornwall Community Police on patrol in the area of Montreal Road and Prince Arthur Street. Investigation revealed the man was breaching his Undertaking conditions and taken into custody. He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
