CORNWALL, Ontario – Canadian Blood Services (CBS) in partnership with the Cornwall Community Police Service, the Cornwall Fire Department, the Cornwall Stormont Dundas &  Glengarry Emergency Medical Services, the OPP,  the RCMP and the Akwesasne Police Services, kicked-off an awareness campaign on Tuesday morning.

“As you know, the need for blood does not take a holiday,” said Claude Laperrière, regional supervisor, CBS, about the busiest time of the year. Not only is there more trauma, but cancer patient continue to need transfusions, while regular donors, are away on summer holiday. In fact, she said, the clinic that they were holding today was only 80% booked. That’s why together with the area’s first responders, CBS is encouraging  everyone who can to donate at next month’s clinic.

The Sirens For Life Blood Donor Clinic will take place on Tuesday, August 6, in the salons at the Cornwall Civic Complex, from 12 pm to 3:30 pm and 5pm to 7:30pm. To book your appointment to save a life, visit www.blood.ca or call 1 888 2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
