CORNWALL, Ontario – A popular fall event that has raised more than $60,000 for area charities over the years has outgrown itself.

The 2015 Trunk Sale hosted by W3G & Co. has expanded to two days this year from one.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. the weekend of Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Marlin’s Orchard east of Cornwall.

The sale, which benefits the MS Society of Canada, had to expand because of the incredible demand it has created among local shoppers looking to enjoy a different sales experience.

“A lot of our guests said last year they weren’t able to visit in one day,” said co-organizer Julie D’Alessio-Hickman.

Her partner Debbis Burns agreed.

“The only way we could expand was to go over two days,” she said.

In addition to the added day, the trunk sale will also include some delicious table fare from five culinary arts programs from area high schools. That’s on top of some of the delectable treats prepared by the vendors who take part in the sale.

“A lot of these kids wouldn’t have the chance to be exposed to so many patrons at one time,” said D’Alessio-Hickman.

The high schools include Holy Trinity, L’Heritage, St. Joseph’s, CCVS and St. Lawrence.

Last year more than $20,000 was raised by the trunk sale, which was donated to the M.S. Society. More than 200 vendors have signed on to the event.

Karen Torrie-Racine, volunteer office manager of the local MS office, said her people are thrilled with the philanthropy of W3G & Co.

“We think this is an awesome event,” she said. “Not only for the community, but for our chapter.

“The girls go above and beyond…to provide a unique shopping experience and they never fail to amaze us.

“We’re very grateful to be the recipients of all their hard work.”

Tickets to the event are $5 a day, or $8 for the weekend. They can be purchased at Pure Aesthetics, Life’s Little Pleasures, Love Love Food, Joe’s Place, Marlins and the Quirky Carrot (Alexandria).
