CORNWALL, Ontario – A pair of Alexandria OPP officers have been dinged for allegedly releasing private information publicly, said police.

OPP arrested and charged a pair of their own Tuesday in relation to offences they say occured dating back to 2009.

The investigation was sparked in 2012 when officers became aware private information was being leaked publicly.

Const. Luanne MacDonald, 44, of Alexandria, a, eight-year veteran of the force, was charged with three counts of breach of trust by a public officer, obstruction of justice, voyeurism, distribution of voyeuristic material, theft of telecommunicatins service and fraud.

Const. John Bernard, 41, a 14-year officer, faces two counts of breach of trust by a public officer.

Both were released on a promise to appear in court Sept. 3. They have also been suspended with pay.

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

OPP Sgt. Kristine Rae was not in a position to provide much beyond a press release issued to media.

“I cannot give details on the specifics,” she said. “In reference to the voyeurism though, I can say the victim is an adult.”

A voyeurism charge , under the Criminal Code of Canada, is laid against a person who surreptitiously, observes — including by mechanical or electronic means — another individual.

Often the observation or recording includes a sexual element.
