CORNWALL, Ontario – South Glengarry CAO Derik Brandt and its treasurer, Jeff Bush, have been dismissed by the municipality.

Officials confirmed the dismissal Thursday morning.

South Glengarry Mayor Ian McLeod said the dismissals were “without cause” and the municipality is in talks with both individuals concerning severance packages.

He confirmed both township council and the managers had “philosophical differences” when it came to the course South Glengarry was charting for itself.

“Beyond that I can’t really say too much,” he added.

McLeod said it is too early to talk about specifics concerning the severance packages.

“Council will be reviewing the management structure at the municipality in the near future,” reads a press release issued by the municipality.

McLeod said the search for a new CAO will begin shortly.

Brandt was retained in 2006 as South Glengarry’s first ever CAO, a position that was created following the retirement of administrator Marcel Lapierre.
