CORNWALL, Ontario – Members of the public could soon be asked to voice their opinion on plans for the future use of Pointe Maligne on Cornwall’s waterfront.
While a specific timeline for the consultations has not been set, it’s expected feedback will be sought next spring.
Pointe Maligne, also known as Lookout Point, is located across the bay from Marina 200.
It is owned by the federal government, but is maintained in its current state by the city. Although the area is often referred to as ‘Lookout Point’ or ‘Pointe Maligne’, it does not have an official name.
While councillors green-lighted a waterfront committee request to seek public input, it came with a warning from some about the future use of waterfront areas like Pointe Maligne.
“The people are very focused – they want the green areas left green,” said Coun. Gerry Samson.
