CORNWALL, Ontario – A ten year anniversary for any business is a milestone, and Christine Champagne owner of Oasis Hair and Day Spa on Pitt Street will soon be celebrating this one.

“Opening Oasis Hair and Day Spa and purchasing the building was a big decision back then,” said Champagne. “Originally, the hairdressing space was rented out to another business owner and we have operated together for the past 10 years. I am now taking over that side of the business as well. I view this change as a chance to take my business to a new level. What our clients have come to expect and love about our services will continue, and will grow as I mesh the two sides of the business even more. It is a very exciting time!”

A graduate of Toronto’s Marvel Beauty School, Champagne has an extensive background in electrolysis from Edith Serei in Montreal along with several Bio Sculpture diplomas. She is very tuned in to providing excellent customer service, which shows in the fact that that many of her clients have been supporting her business for several years.

Oasis Hair and Day Spa offers an assortment of beauty and spa services – waxing, hand and foot treatments of all kinds, facial treatments, make-up and tinting, relaxation massage, half and full spa days, and hairstyling. Champagne and her staff enjoy welcoming regular customers and pampering them, but also delight in meeting new customers and assisting them to achieve their beauty potential – both inside and out!

Not only are the staff and services special, the location is something special as well. The building was previously Kyte’s Stationers which was established in 1889. The building was purchased from the Kyte family by Jack and Joan Earle in 1988, and ultimately sold to Champagne in 2004.

There are some very unique features to the location that have been maintained throughout the years, and that still exist today.

“I was determined to maintain the historical integrity of the location as much as possible,” Champagne explained. “The tin ceiling adds so much character to the spa and the built-ins are great. We needed shelves to display products, and they add so much warmth that it was only natural to keep them. It really is a piece of the history of Downtown Cornwall – one that I am proud to be the custodian of.”

The location, in the Downtown Core has housed three different small businesses in three different centuries. Does Champagne hope to see this tradition continue? Absolutely she says with a smile.

“Oasis Hair and Day Spa stands proud as it prepares to celebrate 10 years in business,” said Candy Pollard, Business Consultant with the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre. “We are confident that as Christine and her staff take over the management of the hair salon side of the spa, they will continue to provide the warm welcome and great services that we have come to expect.”
