Earth Month

Eco Update—Angela Parker
Earth Month

April is Earth Month, a time to celebrate our planet and take action to protect it. Throughout the month, the City of Cornwall will be highlighting how the municipality, and its diverse community, are working together to create a better future.

Are you interested in participating in Earth Month and helping make Cornwall a more sustainable city? In addition to Earth Month, Cornwall will be celebrating a full week dedicated to eco-related activities. You are invited to participate!

Earth Week will be April 15 – 19 and will include various indoor and outdoor activities including walking tours of two riparian restoration projects and a seed bomb workshop hosted by Radical Roots. More activities will be added soon and will be posted on the City’s website: https://www.cornwall.ca/en/live-here/earth-week.aspx.

If you are unable to attend the City’s events and activities, there are a lot of things you can do at home and in your personal life. Any little bit can help the planet and help make the City more sustainable. Perhaps consider eating less meat, try fixing water leaks, unplug unused electronics, plant a pollinator garden, shop local, walk, bike, or take transit, volunteer in your community, and reduce and reuse.

Do you have a local sustainability story that you’d like to share? I would love to hear from you. Email sustainability@cornwall.ca. I hope to see you at the City’s 4th Annual Eco Day on April 20, from 10-2, in Lamoureux Park.
