The Glengarry Pioneer Museum will once again host an outdoor classical music recital this season. It will take place on Thursday, August 18th at 7:30 pm. The popular “Classical Music Under the Stars” event will feature the return of soloist Nicholas Deek, the concert pianist from Ottawa who so impressed last year’s audience. This year, Deek has chosen a “phantasie” themed program with works by Schubert, Chopin, Bach and Mozart.

As an added bonus, Glengarry’s STONEHOUSE VINEYARD from Lochiel will be on hand to showcase their handcrafted, estate grown, produced and bottled wines. As classical music lovers are often fine wine connoisseurs, and vice-versa, the museum saw this as a natural joint promotion opportunity. Concertgoers will receive a complimentary tasting of the wine of their choice. And additional tastings will be available for purchase.

The recital will be held rain or shine; in the case of poor weather, it will move down the road to the Dunvegan Recreation Hall. However, organizers are really hoping it can be held outdoors under the moon and stars. So don’t forget your favourite lawn chair or a blanket, a warm jacket or sweater… and possibly bug spray. You can even come early, bring a picnic supper and dine al fresco before the concert.

Tickets may be purchased in advance through the museum web site’s convenient Online Box Office. There may also be some tickets for sale at the door, but there’s no guarantee. The cost is $25 per person, or $20 for museum members. Proceeds from the fundraising concert will go towards supporting the museum’s operations and maintenance, as well as our community outreach programs.

If you’ve never been to the museum in Dunvegan before, it’s located at the intersection of County Roads 24 and 30. For more details, contact Jennifer Black at 613-527-5230 or visit our web site: GlengarryPioneerMuseum.ca.
