CORNWALL, Ontario – The salons at the Civic Complex were packed on Saturday, Nov. 17 for what was believed to be the biggest turnout for the annual Santa Claus Breakfast ever.

The event had a bacon, eggs and sausage breakfast all purchased and prepared by the Cornwall Optimist Club.

On top of the food, there was also facepainting, a magic show, a kids corner and of course Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

“We do this breakfast every year for the kids and because Santa told us to,” said Terry Muir, an organizer of the event and member of the Cornwall Optimist Club.

Dozens of kids and their parents lined up to get a photo with Santa and to tell him what they want for Christmas.

The breakfast began at 8:30 a.m. and ran until a little after 10 a.m.

Santa had to get going after the breakfast to get ready for Saturday evening, where he would be appearing in the annual Cornwall Santa Claus Parade.

The parade began at 5 p.m. at St. Lawrence Secondary School on Second St. and ran the length of Second St. down to York St.
