LURING A PERSON UNDER 16

Cornwall, ON – David Coleman, 58, of Cornwall, was arrested on Feb. 1, 2024, and charged with luring a person under 16 years of aged by means of telecommunication. It is alleged on Oct. 15, 2023, the man communicated with a person under the age of 16 for the purposes of facilitating the viewing of him engaging in inappropriate conduct. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Feb. 1, 2024, the man attended police headquarters to address the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on March 12, 2024.

CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT AN INDICTABLE OFFENCE, THEFT OVER $5,000, FRAUD OVER $5,000

Cornwall, ON – On April 10, 2023, members of the Cornwall Police Service attended a car dealership in regards to a stolen trailer. This commenced a lengthy investigation by members of the CPS Criminal Investigations Division. The investigation revealed two individuals were arrested by another police service during an unrelated matter and the vehicle and trailer in question were involved in that incident. Upon further investigation, police located the vehicle and the involved parties. The investigation also revealed that the VIN number of the trailer was removed and it was re-registered with the Ministry of Transportation as a homemade trailer, and subsequently sold to another individual. As a result of the investigation, warrants were issued for the arrest of two individuals.

Samantha Van Ness, 21, of Osgoode, ON, was charged with the following:

  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Fraud over $5,000

The woman was located on Jan. 23, 2024, and the warrant was executed. She was held for a bail hearing.

Joshua Wales-Saunders, 35, of Kanata, was charged with the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Forging a document
  • Conspiracy to commit and indictable offence
  • Removing a VIN number
  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Theft over $5,000

The man was located by members of the Ontario Provincial Police and turned over to members of the CPS. The warrant was executed and he was released to appear in court on March 6, 2024.

WARRANT, POSSESSION OF BREAK-IN TOOLS

Cornwall, ON – Thomas Cholette, 47, of Cornwall, was arrested on Feb. 1, 2024, on the strength of an outstanding warrant. It is alleged on Jan. 2, 2024, the man was in possession of break-in tools. An investigation ensued and as a result, a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Feb. 1, 2024, the man was located and the warrant was executed. He was held for a bail hearing.
