The Ontario Provincial Police is conducting an investigation after the body of a man reported missing near Summerstown April 24 was found in his truck after it had been driven back to Newfoundland.

RCMP in Newfoundland found the remains of 51-year-old Brian Lush inside a tractor trailer after it arrived in Port aux Basques.

“We are conducting a review of our investigation and we will share those details with the family, as we continue to liaise with them,” says Bill Dickson, Media Relations Coordinator with the OPP.

“The OPP offers sincere condolences to family and friends. We recognize this has been a traumatic time for them as they grieve the loss of their loved one,” he says.

“Following a request from the family, the OPP initiated a missing person investigation on April 24, 2024. While we acknowledge that we did not locate the missing person, who was later found deceased inside the trailer after it was returned to Newfoundland, we did conduct an extensive investigation and search to try and locate him.”

No foul play is suspected. A coroner’s investigation is being conducted by the Coroner’s Office for Newfoundland.
