January 19, 2022, Cornwall Fire Services (CFS) responded to a residential fire in the 1400 block of Holy Cross Blvd at 1:11 pm.

Cornwall Fire Services initially responded with 11 firefighters and 4 vehicles, a 2nd alarm was activated which brought in 6 additional off duty firefighters and 2 additional vehicles to the scene.

First arriving firefighters were met with heavy fire conditions and zero visibility inside the structure. The fire was brought under control by firefighters and extinguished.

“Our firefighters fought heavy fire conditions and worked tirelessly to contain and extinguish the fire.” said Deputy Chief Woods.

Several agencies were called in to assist including Cornwall Police Service, Cornwall SDG Paramedic Services, Red Cross, Cornwall Electric and City of Cornwall Municipal Works.

Cornwall Fire Services Fire Prevention Division along with the Ontario Fire Marshal is on scene to investigate.

The investigation to determine the origin and cause is still ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
