Tourism fund now accepting applications

CORNWALL, Ontario – The new Tourism Development Fund is now accepting applications from organizations and individuals who seek to start ventures aimed at promoting tourism in Cornwall.

Applicants can apply for up-to $20,000. Applications will be assessed based on several factors, including the potential increase in tourism, overnight stays for visitors to the city, and promotion of the City of Cornwall.

“The goal of the Tourism Development Fund will be to support events and initiatives that further develop and promote Cornwall’s tourism sector,” said Tim Mills, Chair of the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall. “We look forward to seeing a variety of applications over the next few weeks and months.”

Applications will be accepted on a continual basis and will be assessed by an Advisory Board made up of community stakeholders that will make recommendations to the Board of Directors of the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall. Applications can be downloaded from cornwalltourism.com/tdf

The fund is sustained through proceeds from the Municipal Accommodation Tax, 45 per cent of which goes to the Tourism Development Fund, another 45 per cent goes towards Cornwall Tourism, and the remaining 10 per cent goes to City of Cornwall administration costs.
