Local job fair, with Akwesasne component, planned for spring

CORNWALL, Ontario – A job fair is taking place in early spring that will focus on local opportunities to land employment.

The Social Development Council of Cornwall is partnering with the Akwesasne Area Management Board to host the event March 26 at the civic complex.

In previous years, Akwesasne has held the International Job Fair in various community locations.  Thousands of participants have enjoyed the opportunity of networking with employers in one location.

This job fair will mark a renewed effort in collaboration between Akwesasne and the City of Cornwall, said local officials.

“We are always happy to work in partnership with the Akwesasne Area Management Board and Economic Development Agencies towards furthering employment in our region,” said Cornwall economic development manager Mark Boileau.

AAMB representative Russell Roundpoint was of a similar mind.

“The Akwesasne Area Management Board is happy to collaborate with the City of Cornwall and specifically the Social Development Council to bring forward the annual job fair,” he said. “By working together we are able to combine resources and this will result in bringing more job seekers into direct contact with employers.”

More information on the job fair will be released at a media event Wednesday.
