SDG HISTORIC TOUR: Local artwork on sale this week at library branches

THE COUNTIES, Ontario – Just in time for the holidays, copies of new wall calendars featuring artwork from the SDG Historic Tour go on sale this week!

The calendars feature 13 full-colour, glossy images of plaques from the tour, focusing on local events and communities from our past like the Avonmore High School, the Osnabruck Centre Fire, Quinn’s Inn, Newington and a host of others.

The calendars sell for $20 each and are available at all SDG Library branches. There is a limited number of calendars available, so interested parties are encouraged to act quickly to secure their own. Revenue from the sale of the calendars will be reinvested in the SDG Historic Tour project so that more plaques can be created.

The first phase of the SDG Historic Tour is a series of 18 plaques (three in each local municipality in SDG) that tell stories of events, communities and amenities from our past. Plaques will be installed in the spring of 2023 and will incorporate tourism activities including cycling tours and geocaching, to name a few.
