CORNWALL – SDG Counties Council approved expanding reduced-speed zones in Morrisburg and Winchester.
Along County Road 2 in Morrisburg, the 50 km/h zone will begin 550 metres west of the 2/31 roundabout and continue east to Allison Avenue. The 60 km/h transitional zones will begin 350 metres east and 400 metres west of the 50 km/h zones. A new 60 zone is to be added for 350 metres north of the 50 zone on County Road 31.
Councillor Steven Byvelds (South Dundas) asked if the western zones should be expanded further west to encompase the Dutch Meadows subdivision development on the western end of Morrisburg.
Transportation director Ben deHaan said that that change could happen once traffic from the development increases.
In Winchester, the 50 km/h zone will expand west to Dawley Drive because of the Wellings subdivision development and improvements on County Road 3 for walking.
Council agreed with the changes at its November 15 meeting.
