Thunderstorms in the forecast for Cornwall.

UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – Environment Canada says it is tracking severe thunderstorms in the Cornwall region on Saturday, June 29, 2019.

Environment Canada issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning at 7:15 p.m.

“At 7:15 pm, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts of 100 km/h, up to toonie size hail and heavy downpours,” the warning reads. “These thunderstorms are moving south at 40 km/h. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
