CORNWALL, Ontario – At an SD & SG Conservative breakfast special guest MP Candice Bergen slammed Liberal leader Justin Trudeau.
Bergen, MP for Portage-Lisgar (Manitoba), discussed long-gun registry issues before targeting Trudeau at the Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Conservative Association annual fall breakfast on Dec. 7 at the Royal Canadian Legion.
“Would you want him (Justin Trudeau) to be the principal of your children or grandchildren’s school, much less leading this country?” she asked a crowd of over 200 people.
Bergen, minister of state for social development, gave a scathing review of Trudeau’s first policy after nearly a year as head of the Liberal party to legalize pot.
“I’m deeply concerned with this movement that somehow marijuana isn’t harmful and it doesn’t hurt our kids,” said Bergen.
MP Guy Lauzon was in attendance and welcomed Bergen to a crowd of fervent supporters.
“Candice has been a great colleague of mine in Ottawa since she was elected in 2008,” said Lauzon. “She has been a great asset and a key figure in eliminating the long-gun registry and I am very happy she agreed to join us in Cornwall.”
Bergen said that the long-gun registry is a disservice to hunters and gun owners who use their firearms lawfully.
