CORNWALL, Ontario – A 65-year-old Cornwall man is facing serious charges after accusations of him sexually assaulting a local minor in the ’80s surfaced in October 2013.

Police allege Marcel Lalonde inappropriately touched and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old male in the fall of 1989.

Reports indicate that Lalonde and the victim knew each other.

The accused attended police headquarters on Jan. 22 to deal with the matter. He was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Lalonde is scheduled to appear in court on February 20.
